Using Money Wisely to Motivate Employees

Sunday, January 31st, 2010

Money is a great motivator for employees but only if you remember two important things about it. Firstly, money is not the root of all evil but love of money is. Neither is money, however, the source of all pleasure but it can make a huge difference with the kind of life you can have.

Money Cannot Buy Forgiveness
Love isn’t the only thing money can’t buy. Forgiveness is also something that’s invaluable. Consider, for instance, the loved ones of a murder victim. Naturally, they seek compensation from the wrongdoer but only because it’s within their rights to do so and it’s a way of upholding justice. But obtaining compensation does not erase the hurt and it certainly doesn’t make them less angry.

The same goes for employees. Money can’t be a primary motivator for people working for you if you think paying them substantial wages will excuse all your wrongdoing in their eyes. Perhaps, for a while, some of your employees can tolerate unfair treatment to continue earning at the same rate. But their tolerance can only go so far. Rest assured that in the end, employees will reach their limit and choose fair treatment over higher wages.

Money Must Be Earned
Generosity is good but not if it’s excessively practiced. As an employer, it is your role to compensate employees fairly and in a timely manner. Fairness, however, cuts both ways. You pay them well because they deserve it. They are loyal to you, good to your customers, and diligent in work.

Money will cease to become a motivator if you give it to them freely without expecting anything in exchange. If you pay them to do nothing in the office, these people can’t be considered your employees. Rather, they become your burdens.

Once you begin to move beyond basic background information, you begin to realize that there’s more to Motivation than you may have first thought.

Money Must Be Equally and Fairly Distributed
Don’t play favoritisms and don’t use money to distinguish who’s in your good side and who’s not. If that’s the case, money would end becoming a hindrance rather than a motivator.

Money in terms of incentives must be based on performance. Standards used for determining the amount of money to be rewarded should be uniform and objective. They must not be biased for or against certain employees.

If the reward system you’re using isn’t fair or equal, not everyone will be motivated by it. Yes, those who are favored by it will work harder, but those who aren’t favored could feel resentment towards you and their colleagues. Afterwards, it could lead to dissension and, eventually, a significantly negative impact on your company.

Money Must Come from a Good Source
Right things come from the right sources. Your employees must also see for themselves that the company’s profits are a product of an honest day of work and not through corruption and deception.

You cannot expect your employees to be motivated to do good things at work no matter how much you’re paying them if they can see for themselves that the company is involved in illicit activities. In such situations, you are only encouraging them to do the same: they will be motivated, yes, but they’ll be motivated not to work hard with honesty and integrity but to work hard at cheating your company out of your very own money!

Ultimately, remember that although money is essentially a great motivational tool, it can turn out to be counterproductive depending on how you wield it.

Knowing enough about Motivation to make solid, informed choices cuts down on the fear factor. If you apply what you’ve just learned about Motivation, you should have nothing to worry about.

Who uses the service of dropshippers

Saturday, January 30th, 2010

Just about every other business at one time or another uses the service of drop shippers. The service industry makes maximum use of drop shippers. Dropshippers supply parts for servicing various kinds of equipment. Many customers who do their own repairs, order various parts that they need and have them sent directly to the home address. The electrical industries do a great deal of dropshipping to customers. From time to time when the remote control on your TV goes out it becomes necessary to order a remote control online and have it sent by a dropshipper directly to you.

Many parts in technology have to be ordered or dropship because they are not sold locally the dropshipper is usually not a manufacturer of parts but a distributor of parts. It is not always the manufacturer that does the drop shipping. If there are no distributors for the item the manufacturer will sometimes dropship. Department stores interact with each other from city to city and dropship to their customers.

Knowledge can give you a real advantage. To make sure you’re fully informed about Dropshipping, keep reading.

It is easy to go on line to a department store and place an order and have it sent to someone in another city. Even department stores have on line businesses that use dropshippers. Drop shippers are used by most retail stores and wholesales stores. Dropshippers have warehouses scattered in all regions and parts of the country. Jobs are created by dropshippers in small towns and communities and may be the primary source of income for that particular community. Usually in these small communities the labor force is abundant and there is no shortage of help at minimum wages. Many of the online stores distribute merchandise to these small communities to be distributed throughout the region. This cuts down on the expenses of the dropshippers by saving gas and time getting merchandise to customers. It is a great way to spread jobs throughout the country so those who want to work will have an opportunity to do so. Many immigrants work with these dropshippers on various shifts.

Even hospitals have used the services of dropshippers to deliver certain items to in-home patients. At one time automobile dealers picked up parts from a nearby warehouse when needed. Now when a customer orders certain parts they can have the parts sent straight to the customer. These automobile companies have dropshippers scattered across all regions of the country also. So the services of dropshippers or used by more than one type of industry. The use of a dropshipper depends on the service and the need that is required by the custom. Dropshippers are a major part of the economy today. They are able to send merchandise to every crook and corner in the country. Dropshippers have made it possible for you to order merchandise online one day and receive it the next day. This is because sometimes the dropshippers are located right around the corner from you. It is just a matter of loading the merchandise and bringing it to your door. It is not uncommon for customers to order today and receive tomorrow.

Experience Skydiving in Canada

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

Skydiving always starts out as a nice idea, and usually doesn’t develop past that. It always seems like fun in your daydream, but then reality sets in and before you can breathe, you’ve already changed your mind. If you dare to experience this free-falling thrill, you may not even realize what you’re doing until you actually step out of that plane and feel yourself fall with the wind. Standing in the doorway, you feel secure as your feet seem firmly planted on the ground. The equipment on your back weighs you down and it seems like free falling into sky isn’t something that could realistically happen. Then you lower your goggles, the instructor gives you the signal to jump, you take a deep breath, then you jump into a world of heart-racing free-falling adventure and rely on nothing but your parachute to land you safely on the ground.

Canada is a beautiful country to explore all its own, regardless if you are planning to skydive. Canada is full of countryside lakes, glorious mountains, and rolling hills that seems to stretch on forever. Imagine viewing these amazing natural sights from thousands of feet in the air. A chance like that is definitely once in a lifetime, so if you’re given the opportunity to skydive in Canada, you should jump on it immediately.

Most of this information comes straight from the Skydiving pros. Careful reading to the end virtually guarantees that you’ll know what they know.

One skydiving facility in Canada is Skydive Burnaby located in Ontario. This facility provides one-on-one instruction in tandem skydiving, which is the jump of choice for first time skydivers. You will receive classroom instruction where you will learn how to operate the equipment, communicate using hand signals with your instructor, and discuss landing techniques. If you choose to do so, you can pull the ripcord yourself or have your instructor do the honors. You can also catch this amazing experience on film by having your jump taped by a professional aerial videographer. For the experienced skydiver, Skydive Burnaby offers accelerated freefall (AFF) jumps along with the opportunity to jump in formations with other skydivers.

Another wonderful facility in Canada is Skydive SWOOP located in downtown Toronto. This facility offers instruction in the three main types of skydive jumps: AFF, Static Line, and Tandem. The static line jumps allows you to jump solo on the first time while your parachute is opened by your jumpmaster aboard the aircraft. Skydive SWOOP offers many amenities in addition to skydiving, including on-site restaurants, gift shops, and a prestigious camping ground facility complete with hot showers.

There is no greater thrill than experiencing the feel of wind rushing through your body at 120 mph - and there’s no greater place to experience it than Canada! A simple search of the internet will provide you a comprehensive listing of all skydiving facilities located in this country along with their rates and travel information. And don’t forget to capture it all on film; this is something you will want to show your friends and family for years to come!

Sometimes it’s tough to sort out all the details related to this subject, but I’m positive you’ll have no trouble making sense of the information presented above.

Perspectives on Mental Health Recovery

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

The best course of action to take sometimes isn’t clear until you’ve listed and considered your alternatives. The following paragraphs should help clue you in to what the experts think is significant.

If you have a chronic disease like heart attack or diabetes, you will have to live life with it. You will learn to adjust after each attack and would know the signs that there is an acute attack budding. The same is true with recovery from a mental illness. You cannot expect that during treatment, you will be a renewed man. Symptoms would still be apparent and you would experience things that are sometimes hopeless and debilitating but still you have to adjust through them. And with each adjustment, you would feel that you are starting to move forward, leaving your mental illness behind.

Mental health recovery is all about improvement from a bad case to something better. It is a continuous process and definitely not a linear one. You would move from square one to square two but you should always be ready to move one step back. You would learn newer ways to control the symptoms of your mental illness and would have insights on how to cope with them. There would be a lot of disappointments and errors the results from these errors are oftentimes rewarding.

Mental health recovery is a lifelong process as much as mental illness took years to develop sometimes even decades. A person could struggle through years of being controlled solely by a mental disorder and will have to face a lifelong effort to get out of it. You may achieve a life beyond the chains of your previous mental illness symptoms but you would still have to bout with intermittent attacks of symptoms.

One crucial factor to all kinds of illnesses is early intervention. Someone who presents symptoms of schizophrenia during earlier stages have a better chance of easier recovery with early intervention than someone who has aggravated case. Likewise, any signs of relapse that are recognized and treated early could define the barrier between going through the same disorder again or completely shutting all doors towards total recovery.

However, recovery from a mental disorder is just one of the many parts of the process. A person suffering from mental illness should also work to restore his mental health or sense of well-being.

Hopefully the information presented so far has been applicable. You might also want to consider the following:

Many individuals who have histories of mental illness often resort to a life that is withdrawn from the public due to social stigma and discrimination associated with the mental disorder. This leads to impaired sense of self-worth thus invaliding the whole idea of recovery.

For most people, the hardest stage of the recovery process is not the beginning but the end. In this stage, a person has to reclaim everything that he has lost during the entire period he had the mental illness plus every lost opportunity that he would have taken prior to the onset of symptoms.

Sadly, reclaiming these bits of life is far harder than all the aspects of recovery combined. Going back to “what could have been” takes a very long time as well as mending the damages caused by the mental illness due to very limited opportunities opened to people who have suffered a mental disorder.

But this shouldn’t be. You may not be able to go back to your previous job or do the things that you used to do but you could redirect your life to something different but equally rewarding. This has happened before to other people, it will happen to you.

Don’t limit yourself by refusing to learn the details about Mental Health. The more you know, the easier it will be to focus on what’s important.

Hobbies for the Elderly to Maintain Mental Health

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010

Elderly people respond to mental health differently than younger people. They are prone to developing more psychological disorders and can cope less effectively to triggering factors of mental impairments.

Let’s first take a look at how an old person lives-

Retiring could be one of the most enjoyable but dreaded years in the life of a person. Anybody who no longer has definite roles to take apart from being an older member of the society begins to question their own importance, sometimes even existence. Since a retired person no longer holds a job, he is free to use his time on any activity he chooses. The problem though is that he cannot establish a certain activity that would make life for him enjoyable for the rest of his life. He also feels that he is no longer important since his children who used to depend on him have already taken up their own lives, sometimes living him without company.

On most cases, people who are old are alone. They sulk into life without purpose, without direction, without the sense of worth. Slowly, they will have experiences that would negatively affect their mental health. They then become depressed, lonely and more prone to developing psychological disorders. Since the society give too little importance to the elderly people, it tends to disregard them. Until they become debilitated enough due to sickness, disorders and old age that the society begins to notice them. But then, by that time, it is already too late.

The usual life of the elderly is marked by the lack of support that will introduce them to activities that will revitalize their lives. They can no longer put up with their old activities since their bodies, by nature, are deteriorated enough to hinder them from moving and performing like they did before. However, old age should not always be like this. Old people should try to look for newer activities in their lives that would make the rest of their days enjoyable and worthwhile.

They say “you cannot teach old dog new tricks”. This is a myth. An old person who is willing to learn will learn by all means regardless if his body or his mind limits him. Here are some of the hobbies that an elderly could do to increase his mental health:

Keeping your brain active will make you feel healthy

Truthfully, the only difference between you and Mental Health experts is time. If you’ll invest a little more time in reading, you’ll be that much nearer to expert status when it comes to Mental Health.

For some people, the mere fact that they are thinking and can still conceptualize thoughts drive them to be crazy about life. It is never too late to learn to write and for people who used to enjoy writing during their younger years, it is never too late to bring back their attitude towards literature.

Reading could also be a fun activity that would easily let the time pass. Old people who enjoy reading are apparently happier than those who sat idly on their couches throughout the day.

The music of your life

Your fingers may not have the same dexterity they had when you were younger but this doesn’t mean that you can no longer enjoy music. You can learn to play music instruments. The piano, for example, requires too little energy output but the internal satisfaction it provides is high. Also, listening to music could make you think of familiar thoughts that would drive you through the memory lane. This would allow you to meditate on your life. For most people, knowing the fact that they have lived their life well make them satisfied and at peace with themselves. Internal peace is central to achieving the right balance in life.

Pick up your old hobbies

Did you enjoy gardening as a kid or collecting things as a teenager? You can bring back those old hobbies. After all, you already have enough investments in the past that it would no longer be hard for you to start again.

It is often the case of losing the zest for life when one gets old. But through regaining your appetite for life through hobbies for elderly, you might find again that life is worth living for.

Now you can be a confident expert on Mental Health. OK, maybe not an expert. But you should have something to bring to the table next time you join a discussion on Mental Health.

Famous Harley Davidson Riders

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010

Though it’s not documented the very first woman to ride a Harley Davidson motorcycle was probably Janet Davidson. Janet was an aunt of Arthur, Walter and William Davidson. She helped her nephews out by using her artistic talents to paint pinstriping and lettering on their motorcycles.

Several other women are notable in the just over 100-year history of the Harley Davidson Company. In 1929 Vivian Bale road her 45 Twin D Harley on a trip of almost 5,000 miles. Along the way she stopped to meet with dealers of her favorite ride. After completing this legendary trip she spent many more years riding and performing motorcycle stunts at various racing events in Florida.

Brigitte Bardot was a famous movie star and pinup star in the 1950’s. In the 1960’s she became so enamored by Harley Davidson Motorcycles that she debuted her hit single entitled Harley Davidson. Also popular was a photograph of her astride her favorite motorcycle. She is wearing hot pants and a partially unzipped leather jacket.

Well-known actress Elizabeth Taylor rode a Purple Passion motorcycle that was given to her by her friend Malcolm Forbes. It was said that the bike matched her famous eyes.

If your Harley Davidson facts are out-of-date, how will that affect your actions and decisions? Make certain you don’t let important Harley Davidson information slip by you.

Peter Fonda is probably one of the most famous male Harley Davidson Riders thanks to the 1969 movie Easy Rider. Dennis Hopper also appeared in this movie and the photo of a scene showing them both together, each atop his Harley is still sough after today.

Malcolm Forbes, the founder of Forbes magazine and one of the wealthiest men ever, not only loved giving Harley Davidson’s to friends as gifts, he owned more than 50 of them himself. Forbes began riding motorcycles in his late 40’s and enjoyed it so much he began collecting them. His personal endorsement of the Harley made its sales soar to new heights.

Jay Leno is another celebrity who is known for his love of Harley Davidson motorcycles. He loves them so much that not only does he own several, but he also does his own maintenance and repair work.

Several other well-known Harley Davidson riding celebrities include: Elvis Presley, Don Johnson, Jackson Browne, Mickey Rourke and Tina Turner. And who can forget Arnold Schwarznegger and His Terminator role. Former President of the United States, Bill Clinton also posed astride a Harley during his campaign.

Though not famous in a good way, the hard-core motorcycle gang known of as the Hells Angels also favor Harley Davidson bikes. There is no known link to the Harley Davidson Company. This motorcycle club began in 1948 and by the 1960’s was notorious throughout the United States and Canada. Tied to drugs and crime just the site of these bikers was enough to strike fear into an entire town whenever they rode through. Today the Hell’s Angels sponsor several charitable events in the United States and Canada. Unfortunately they still frequently appear in the news for criminally related activities. The motorcycle club has been deemed an established criminal organization by the Ontario Superior Court of Justice.

So now you know a little bit about Harley Davidson. Even if you don’t know everything, you’ve done something worthwhile: you’ve expanded your knowledge.

How to Pay Bills through Internet Banking Services

Monday, January 25th, 2010

The following article presents the very latest information on Internet Banking. If you have a particular interest in Internet Banking, then this informative article is required reading.

Internet banking can make paying bills a quick, easy task. Once you set it up, it can be done automatically, if you choose to make it that way. Or, you can pay each bill individually. Either way, you be more accurate and save time as well.

Some internet banking companies allow you to do online bill paying for free. You usually have to have a “qualifying account,” but the rules for those vary. You can also get free online bill paying if you carry a large balance in your internet banking account.

For some banks that amount is $1000, for others, it is $5000. Otherwise, you will have to pay a fee, which will be well under $10 per month for a certain number of bills paid and an additional fee for extra bills. This additional fee is usually under $0.50 per bill.

To sign up for automatic bill pay through internet banking, start at your bank’s website. There should be a tab marked “bill pay” or something similar. Click on that and you can enroll in their bill paying services.

Then, you will be instructed in how to set up your payees. You will go to a tab marked “Add Payee.” This will give you options of how to list the people you are sending money. You will probably be asked the name and zip code of the company. Some internet banking services will ask you for the company’s address, too.

See how much you can learn about Internet Banking when you take a little time to read a well-researched article? Don’t miss out on the rest of this great information.

Type in the information you have about your payee. Or, if the company you wish to pay is on a list compiled by the internet banking company, you can simply click on it and select it. You have now set up the person who is to receive payment.

Next, you designate which account from which that person or company is to be paid. This is particularly important if you have several accounts with the same internet banking operation. Your accounts will be in a drop-down list where you can select the one you want.

You can set up a bill payment up to a year before you have it taken out of your account. You cannot do an immediate bill payment. It will take a certain amount of time for the payee to receive payment.

You can set up recurring payments to be taken out of your account periodically. These payment arrangements are commitments. Unless you cancel them in time, they will be paid. If you do not have the money in the internet banking account for them, you will overdraw.

You can find out if your payment has been made in different ways. You can opt to be notified by email from your bank every time they pay a bill. The payment will also show up in your internet banking account transactions on the website. You will also know from your next bill from that company if a payment was credited to your account.

Paying bills through internet banking is easy once you get the hang of it. If you set it up correctly, it takes very little management to keep up the steady stream of payments going from your account to those with whom you do business. Now, if internet banking could come up with a way for you to stop having to pay bills, you would have it made!

There’s a lot to understand about Internet Banking. We were able to provide you with some of the facts above, but there is still plenty more to write about in subsequent articles.

Remember these tips and you can be sure that you will be able to find the best music download website to download your favorite tunes for your iPhone.

Now you can be a confident expert on Iphone. OK, maybe not an expert. But you should have something to bring to the table next time you join a discussion on Iphone.

What to Expect at a Sleep Disorder Overnight Sleep Center

Saturday, January 23rd, 2010

Would you like to find out what those-in-the-know have to say about Sleep Disorders? The information in the article below comes straight from well-informed experts with special knowledge about Sleep Disorders.

I f you think you may have a sleep disorder, your primary doctor or a doctor that specializes in sleep disorders may send you to a sleep center for diagnosis. There are a large number of sleep centers located across the United States and their numbers are increasing. Sleep centers in the United States must be accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.

When a person goes to a sleep center, it is usually for an overnight stay. Costs involved for most sleep study tests range from one to three thousand dollars and many need to be repeated twice. The first visit to diagnose the sleep disorder and the second to get accurate settings for any PAP machines that may be needed. Health insurance generally pays all or most of the cost of the tests needed to diagnose a sleep disorder.

Once an appointment has been made, many sleep centers send a sleep diary to the patient. The information from the sleep diary is used by the doctors to understand general sleeping patterns.
It is also recommended that no caffeine or alcohol be consumed after 12:00 p.m. on the day of the scheduled test.

Generally the patient packs an overnight bag just as if they were going to stay at a hotel overnight. During the sleep study you wear your own nightclothes and you can use a favorite pillow from home. You can bring a book or magazine if you like to read before falling to sleep. Most sleep centers resemble a hotel room and have a television to watch if that is what the patient usually does before going to sleep at home. Once you are relaxed the sleep center technician starts preparation for the equipment needed to record your patterns of sleep.

How can you put a limit on learning more? The next section may contain that one little bit of wisdom that changes everything.

Diagnosis from a sleep center study is made using polysomnography which records a continual record of your sleep. In order to take a specific reading slightly more than two dozen small thin electrodes are pasted to specific parts of your body. They are placed under your chin, on your scalp, near your eyes and nose, on your finger, chest and legs, and also over the rib muscles and on the abdomen. These electrodes then record various types of readings during the night. Often an audio and video tape are also made to monitor sleep noises and movement.

Once all the equipment is in place the sleep technician leaves you alone to fall asleep. Even with all the equipment it is not uncomfortable. It is easy to move or turn onto your side. Each bedroom in a sleep center also has an automatic intercom so it is easy to call the technician if needed for such things as a bathroom break. When the sleep study is completed, the technician may wake you. Most studies that are used to diagnose a sleep disorder take seven to eight hours.

The reading are collected on a computer file called a polysonagram and are monitored and analyzed by the sleep technician during the night. The results are then sent for further readings to determine if there is a sleep disorder.

Although a sleep study may not sound comfortable, it is very important to determine and treat any sleep disorder.

Take time to consider the points presented above. What you learn may help you overcome your hesitation to take action.

Nocturnal Eating Syndrome - A Food Related Sleep Disorder

Saturday, January 23rd, 2010

Nocturnal eating syndrome is a sleep disorder that is more common in women than men. It is one of two eating disorders that are related to sleep. The other is called sleep-related food disorder. Nocturnal eating syndrome and sleep-related food disorder are parasomnias

Nocturnal eating syndrome is a sleep disorder that is characterized by compulsive raids on the refrigerator at night. Usually people with this sleep disorder are very light sleepers. When they awake during the night they have an overly compulsive feeling that they will not be able to fall back to sleep unless they eat something. Once out of bed and at the refrigerator, the compulsion to eat makes them gobble down food. People with nocturnal eating syndrome are fully awake and remember eating the food the next day. This syndrome is a combination of a sleep disorder and an eating disorder. Insomnia is also a factor in nocturnal eating syndrome. Treatment for this disorder is usually received from a mental health professional that specializes in people with eating disorders. Improving sleep hygiene can also help with this disorder.

Sleep-related eating disorder also affects more women then men and is a variation of sleepwalking. During an episode of this sleep disorder, a person will eat during partial arousal form a deep sleep. Often they will eat very unhealthy or strange foods that they normally would not eat when awake. During an episode of sleep-related eating disorder, a person might eat frozen pizza, raw cookie dough, peanut butter on fish and even dog food. Often they are very careless and sloppy and may get burns or cuts while preparing the food. It is very difficult to wake a person during an episode and they have no memory of it in the morning. There does not seem to be a correlation to hunger during a sleep-related eating disorder episode, even if the person has eaten just before bed, an episode can still occur.

Once you begin to move beyond basic background information, you begin to realize that there’s more to Sleep Disorders than you may have first thought.

Although the cause of food related sleep disorder is not known, several triggers have been identified. Medications such as lithium, a mood stabilizer, and the benzodiazepine receptor zolpidem are two of those triggers. People with mood and personality disorders or psychological problems such as bulimia are at higher risk of developing one of these food related sleep disorders. People suffering from other sleep disorders including insomnia, sleep apnea, periodic limb movement disorder or narcolepsy are also at higher risk

People with sleep-related eating disorder usually have a history of sleepwalking. Because of this, people suffering from this parasomnina are considered having more of a sleep disorder then an eating disorder. Treatment with prescription medication is often very effective. Antidepressants, dopimine agents, anticonvulsants and opiates are often prescribed. Once sleepwalking is stopped so are the trips to the refrigerator.

Sleep eaters often are overweight because of the high caloric intake at night. The weight gain can lead to other sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea. Seeking treatment, either from a medical or mental health professional is essential for good health in the treatment of sleep eating disorders.

Sometimes it’s tough to sort out all the details related to this subject, but I’m positive you’ll have no trouble making sense of the information presented above.
