How to Write Motivating Poems

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

Writing motivating poems is simple and easy. If you don’t believe that then you probably need to read one or two of them yourself. Here are other tips to help you write a motivating poem.

Find a source of inspiration.
Inspiration can come from within but it can also be an external source. Either way is fine as long as it helps you think of good and happy thoughts.

Write freely and write from the heart.
Don’t think about what other people would say. Remember that you are writing for yourself and to make others happy. Concentrate on what your heart is telling you. Think about the things that make you happy and write about that. In writing motivating poems, the first things you should focus on are its content and message. Worry about grammar, rhyme, and the likes after and not before.

Be patient.
Writing a motivating poem is truly simple and easy, but there’s also the right time to do it. If no words seem to sound right then maybe you should give it a rest and get back to it when you’re feeling more inspired. Wait for your muse to come. Wait for Lady Luck to smile on you. The right time will come sooner and later and when it does, you’ll be surprised at fast you’ll be scribbling down those words.

Be flexible.
Motivating poems must not be rigid. Don’t begin your poem with strict, inflexible views on how it should be. Neither should you force your feelings to conform to your expectations. When you do that, it won’t end up a motivating poem. Remember: a poem can only motivate when it’s written by a person who’s motivated and with the intention to motivate.

How can you put a limit on learning more? The next section may contain that one little bit of wisdom that changes everything.

Pray or meditate.
If you are a religious person, pray to God and He shall help you find the grace and strength you need to make a beautiful motivating poem. After all, there is no better source of inspiration than God Himself, is there?

Remember, however, that prayers are more effective when they’re two-way. Don’t spend the whole time talking to God, telling Him what He already knows and asking what He already intends to give. Part of praying also involves listening. This is harder than speaking to God because sometimes, we are blind and deaf to what God is telling us.

An alternative to praying is meditation. Meditating is more effective and easier to achieve if you’re in a room where you can be alone and be free from distractions. Start with a couple of breathing exercises, imagining all the while that every time you inhale, you take in peace and every time you exhale, you remove stress from your system.

Focus inwards and soon, your mind, heart, and soul will tell you whatever you need to know in order to make a motivating poem.

Take all criticism constructively.
When you are done writing your poem, leave it for a day or two then review it once more and see if you can think of something to revise. When you’re satisfied with your poem, have a loved one read it.

If they voice out certain concerns, remember that they are only doing so for your own good. Take criticism constructively; listen to what they have to say, learn from your mistakes, and make your poem better. And if you need more motivation and inspiration, look for your favorite poem and re-read it.

Hopefully the sections above have contributed to your understanding of Motivation. Share your new understanding about Motivation with others. They’ll thank you for it.

Surfing in Ink and Paper: Adventures in Magazine Publishing

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

For a lot of people, surfing is not only a sport, it is a lifestyle. The sport has attracted people from all walks life. Some had already built their everyday life around the sport. It has established a whole new culture by itself. With a culture of people with an intense love and commitment to surfing, they have posed themselves as a good market. It is a good niche of people that magazine publishing companies have definitely explored. Here’s a list of magazines that have dedicated themselves to the community.

Surfer

John Severson founded this very successful publication from his own garage in the 1960s. It originally served as an accompaniment to his third surf film, Surf Fever. The magazine proved to be a success, prompting Severson to launch The Surfer Quarterly which later on became the Surfer Bi-Monthly. Surfer was such a huge success that it helped to initiate the boom of the surf culture in the 1970s to the 1980s. It has opened the doors between surfers to talk about almost everything that is related to it.

One important outcome from the magazine was the environmental awareness and movement among the surfers. Articles about marine pollution, reef and harbor conservation have been featured on regular sections. This then has lead to the establishment of the Surfrider Foundation in the 1980s.

John Severson later sold the magazine to Better Living, Inc. Forty-one years later after Surfer was started in his garage, the magazine has undergone several changes in its staff and ownership. The company has also turned itself into a full-sized magazine publishing company. It has since then hailed as the ?surfer’s bible.?

Pitpilot

Sometimes the most important aspects of a subject are not immediately obvious. Keep reading to get the complete picture.

Pitpilot covers the British surfing scene. Combining sensible articles with just anything crazy, the magazine aims to be THE British surf magazine. It links up British surfers with the rest of the world. The magazine has been a hit since only after six months since it started, they already had, in their own words, ?a cushdy little office in town.?

Surf Girl Magazine
In a scene which seems to be dominated by men, surf girl gives it a fresh air. In fact, it is the only widely distributed magazine aimed at the female surfer. Orca Publications in Newquay, Cornwall publishes the magazine. It merges topic from the usual women’s magazine like fashion, health and beauty into the surfing culture. Articles on famous female surfers, surfing spots and environmental issues are also featured.

Zigzag Surf Magazine

Zigzag surf magazine is the fourth oldest surf magazine in the world. Started by Paul Naude, Doug MacDonald and Mike Larmont, the magazine was conceived after the team met up with publisher of the Backdoor, a Hawaiian tabloid magazine. The original shop is in the rooftop of Mike Larmont’s surfboard factory. The magazine was later sold to Craig Sims and Rob Von Wieringen in 1988. Presently, the team of John McCarthy and Will Bendix publishes the magazine.

Wave Action Surf Magazine

Like the other magazines, wave action surf magazine started out humbly, in a small apartment in Huntington, California. Surfers Mike Freihofer and Pete Rocky pioneered the magazine while still working for another magazine publishing company, International Surf. With two other friends, Tracy Mikulec and Jake Knight, they launched Wave Action Surf Magazine in 1993. The magazine publishing company went on successfully thereafter, creating four more publications.

Wave Action surf magazine initiated the idea for other publications to look out for the next top surfers by releasing an “All Grom Issue” with the article “Hot 100.”

Security Cameras That Are Actually Fake

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

Are you looking for some inside information on Security Cameras? Here’s an up-to-date report from Security Cameras experts who should know.

A complete security camera system can get expensive, and some people cannot afford them. However, they want that sense of protection. So what can they do? Buy a fake security camera system! Is this really possible? Absolutely. Often times as a form of protection people will place stickers in their windows advertising a security company in an attempt to avoid potential intruders, and a lot of times it works. Well, did you know you can do the same thing with security cameras? Fake security cameras actually do exist and you can buy them.

Often times these fake security cameras sell for under twenty dollars. And they do look real or similar to the realistic design of a real security camera. Some are equipped with motion sensors so if someone passes by the security camera which is actually a fake, a red light will start blinking making the ordinary criminal think it is real. All they have really done is activate the motion sensor.

These fake security cameras look so much in design as real ones, people are easily confused as to whether or not they are actually the real thing. However, by confusing people into not knowing if the security camera watching them is real or not, they are put at some peace of mind, while others are just in awe wondering about the entire issue of the security cameras.

They are not against the law, in fact some places where financially the city is in distress, some of the security cameras, although not all, are not even real in some of their local city offices. Bigger communities obviously don’t have this problem, however who is to say a few of their security cameras aren’t in fact decoys and replicas of the real security cameras too.

Think about what you’ve read so far. Does it reinforce what you already know about Security Cameras? Or was there something completely new? What about the remaining paragraphs?

With this in mind, some people will use these designs of security cameras simply because you can’t tell the difference, and your personal property may be protected. Many security services sell these imitation security cameras. And they will also assist you on where to place the security camera. Most use regular batteries and this would be the only draw back, making sure the battery was good. Otherwise, the security camera would confuse someone, unless they actually specialized in security camera types and designs.

The fake security cameras also come in different designs too, Just as the real ones. It is so amazing what people come up with in the ideas of safety and protection. These decoys or replicas of the security cameras installed, actually look like the real thing and in most cases unless touched or looked over at a close distance, cannot be determined as not being real or decoys.

And considering they don’t cost all that much. People have the ability to actually buy more than one and put the security cameras in different areas. Not to mention, still not spending what they would initially on a real security camera system.

So many acts of violence occur in the United States today, this is a good way to warn intruders, they won’t know if the security camera is real or not.

Now that wasn’t hard at all, was it? And you’ve earned a wealth of knowledge, just from taking some time to study an expert’s word on Security Cameras.

What You Really Need to Know About Skydiving

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

Skydiving came from the recesses of necessity, as people need an escape route when an aircraft suddenly becomes unfit or unsafe to continue flying, or when it cannot land safely. It was conceptualized from a stunt done during 1797 when a crazy Frenchman by the name of Andre Jacques Farnerin jumped out of a hot-air-balloon and landed unscathed.

Obviously, this brought in a multitude of new possibilities into the table. Emergency safety in aircrafts has been improved and the US military even used it as a strategy that helped them win World War 2, especially in the European theater. With necessity established and good to go, people turned their attention to leisure.

Initial Public Outcry

Of course, it comes as no surprise that people would be moaning about the dangers of jumping out of an airplane that is thousands of feet above sea level. While doing so with the plane threatening to crash onto the earth like an impromptu meteorite, they all got squeamish with doing so out of a perfectly good one. Surely, they never saw the potential that skydiving could bring onto the table.

Soon enough, it was proven that it was safe beyond any shadow of a doubt. Statistics show that only one in every one hundred thousand jumps go wrong and such circumstances are evidently rare. In comparison to other activities, skydiving is surprisingly safer.

Financial Misconceptions

If your Skydiving facts are out-of-date, how will that affect your actions and decisions? Make certain you don’t let important Skydiving information slip by you.

Most people would think that skydiving is a luxury that is only accessible to the wealthy. While this is not entirely a fallacy due to the cost of equipment used for skydiving, not everyone who skydives is rich. There are charity organizations set up to let people skydive without expense at all. Also, sponsors can be called upon to fund an event where you can skydive for charity as well. As expenses may be grand, skydiving doesn’t have to be aristocratic at all. It is definitely available for those with both the desire and the heart to do it.

Health Concerns

There are also health concerns regarding skydiving for each individual. Surely, there is no way that a sick person can skydive, right? Well, that may be true, but for only conditions that would definitely be affected from such an adrenaline-pumping activity. An epileptic, for example, would not be fit for a jump at all. On the other hand, an asthmatic can partake as long as he/she can keep it under control with medication. If you are one of those with medical conditions and you want to skydive, obtain an authentic medical certificate from your physician before participating in such an activity.

World Achievements

There are a lot of trivia when it comes to skydiving, and some of them are quite amazing indeed. For example, there was an event held in Thailand back in 2006 where 400 people from 312 countries jumped from 23,000 feet in a flower-like formation for around a minute and a half. There’s also one of the oldest world records in skydiving, which is the longest skydiving jump in history.

Joseph Kittinger’s extraordinary jump lasted for over four minutes from a height of 102,800 feet, which is quite unbelievable. The record, as of this writing, still stands and is one of the most amazing feats in skydiving history.

The day will come when you can use something you read about here to have a beneficial impact. Then you’ll be glad you took the time to learn more about Skydiving.

100 Years Of HD

Monday, March 30th, 2009

So what is Harley Davidson really all about? The following report includes some fascinating information about Harley Davidson–info you can use, not just the old stuff they used to tell you.

The Harley-Davidson Company or HD has been around for just over 100 years. It all began with two friends in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1903. William S. Harley stands for the H in HD. Arthur Davidson is one of three D’s. The other two D’s being his brothers, Walter and William Davidson. William Harley and Arthur Davidson began working on the prototype and eventually sought the help of Walter and William. Walter was a skilled mechanic. William was an experienced toolmaker. Together the group formed the HD Company, which was later incorporated.

During 1903 HD turned out a grand total of 3 motorcycles. All were bought and paid for before completion. Gray was the standard color of the first HD motorcycles, which were often referred to as the “Silent Gray Fellows”.

By the end of 1905 the HD Company was not only selling motorcycles, but also motorcycle motors, marine motors, reversible propellers and float feed carburetors. The price of the motorcycle was $200.

The popularity of the HD motorcycle continued to grow through out the following decade. By 1914, nine departments of the federal government of the United States used HD’s. The U.S. Postal service alone used more than 4,800 Harley Davidson motorcycles for rural mail delivery.

In 1916 the military began using HD’s in border skirmishes with Pancho Villa. The motorcycles were equipped with machine guns. HD motorcycles were also used in World War I with half of all models produced being shipped overseas. The war also was responsible for the establishment of the first Harley-Davidson Service School. The HD Company saw a need and met it.

The 1920’s brought an end to the war and a beginning to the world of racing. HD made quite an impact. Harley-Davidson suffered, but managed to survive the Great Depression and continued to prosper through the 1930’s.

Unfortunately World War II came in the 1940’s and HD was pressed into service once again.

If you don’t have accurate details regarding Harley Davidson, then you might make a bad choice on the subject. Don’t let that happen: keep reading.

The 1950’s brought about new, more aggressive marketing strategies and expansion for this great company. Once again war broke out, this time in Korea. Motorcycles were replaced in popularity with the military with the Jeep. HD was free to concentrate on its civilian consumers.

The 1960’s brought about as much change for HD as everyone else in the United States. This was also when the company began to branch out into an unrelated field of leisure product with the production of 3-wheeled golf carts. By the end of the decade these carts cornered about one third of the United States market, and were even used oversees. HD also began marketing an extensive line of motorcycle accessories.

The 1970’s saw continuing success in the racing venue. Great advancements were made in the racing bikes that were produced by HD. In late 1970 the company also unveiled its brand new snowmobile. Perhaps the biggest change was the merger between HD and the AMF.

The 1980’s began with a buyback, and the HD Company returned to private ownership. The company seemed to show a renewed interest in building better machines So much so that they won the contract with the California Highway Patrol in 1984, 1985, 1987, 1988 and 1989.

The 1990’s were ushered in with the appearance of HD’s most customized factory custom motorcycle to date, the FLSTF Fat Boy. This bike was reminiscent of the past while still being up to date with the times.

The Twenty first century has come and HD remains strong. Its current line of bikes includes the Sporster, the Dyna, the Softail, the VRSC, and a Touring line. Each line includes several models. Bikes now sell from between $6,000 and $25,000.

Don’t limit yourself by refusing to learn the details about Harley Davidson. The more you know, the easier it will be to focus on what’s important.

Narcolepsy – A Rare Sleep Disorder

Monday, March 30th, 2009

Have you ever wondered what exactly is up with Sleep Disorders? This informative report can give you an insight into everything you’ve ever wanted to know about Sleep Disorders.

Narcolepsy, a relatively rare sleep disorder, causes people to fall asleep when they do not want to. This is caused by a neurological disorder. The brain sends signals to the body that are sleep inducing; however, they are sent at inappropriate and unpredictable times. Often it happens when a person is involved in a quiet activity, such as watching a movie or during a meeting. Sometimes a person with this sleep disorder falls asleep while driving, which is obviously extremely dangerous. Others fall asleep while they are eating or talking. The overwhelming need to sleep can come at any hour of the day during any activity.

People suffering with narcolepsy often do not realize how sleepy they are, nor how often they fall asleep. It is often a family member, friend or coworker that convinces them that they need to seek medical help for their sleep disorder.

Narcolepsy has five main symptoms. These are excessive daytime sleepiness, insomnia and fragmented sleep, sleep paralysis, cataplexy and hypnagogic hallucinations. Some people with this sleep disorder experience only one symptom but others can experience all five.

Excessive daytime sleepiness is generally the first symptom to appear. Everyone with narcolepsy has this symptom. The feeling of needing to sleep is so strong that sufferers are unable to fend it off, regardless of how hard they try. These sleep attacks, as they are usually called, can happen several times and last for five to ten minutes.

Insomnia and fragmented sleep are a very common symptom of this sleep disorder. People with narcolepsey often have a very difficult time falling asleep at night, even though they fall asleep easily throughout the day. When they do fall asleep at night they wake up often and do not follow a typical REM / non REM sleep pattern.

If your Sleep Disorders facts are out-of-date, how will that affect your actions and decisions? Make certain you don’t let important Sleep Disorders information slip by you.

Sleep paralysis occurs in about half of the people that suffer from this sleep disorder. For several minutes before falling to sleep or waking up, the person with this symptom cannot talk or move.

The loss of muscle function while awake is cataplexy. These episodes are usually very short in length. Over half of the people with narcolepsy experience this symptom of this sleep disorder. They are caused by a part of REM not functioning correctly. Often, episodes are brought on by anger, laughter or any other strong emotion. Sometimes knees buckle, necks and jaws become weak or the person may fall to the ground. Even though the person looks like they are asleep and cannot talk, they are fully awake and aware of what is happening.

A hypnagogic hallucination is experiencing very vivid and often frightening sounds, images or physical sensations. These occur from dreams just before the person is falling asleep or waking up. It is very difficult for a person with this sleep disorder to distinguish between the dream and reality. These hallucinations often have very dangerous themes and are extremely frightening. Often they are accompanied by sleep paralysis.

There are also several lesser symptoms of narcolepsy. These include blurred vision, migraine headaches, memory or concentration problems and automatic behavior. An apostate of automatic behavior can last for several minutes. During that time a person with this sleep disorder will perform a routine task. The task is often done incorrectly, such as placing a turkey in the dishwasher or writing past the end of a page.

Narcolepsy can be diagnosed and treated with various drugs. If left untreated this sleep disorder can ruin a person’s life.

Internet Banking with Virtual Banks

Monday, March 30th, 2009

The following article lists some simple, informative tips that will help you have a better experience with Internet Banking.

There are two ways to do internet banking. Banking online through a website set up by a traditional bank does not seem to be too much of a stretch for many people. However, virtual banks are taking internet banking to a whole different level.

A virtual bank is a bank that has no physical structure where you can go to conduct business. It has no branches convenient to you. You simply do all your transactions through the internet banking.

If you have a problem, you cannot go to your local branch and complain to the manager. Instead, you have to contact representatives of your virtual bank online. Sometimes, you can take care of these internet banking tasks over the telephone. If you like to deal with problems face to face, though, virtual banks are not for you.

A virtual bank does not have automatic teller machines. It usually charges you fees to use other banks’ ATM’s. There are some virtual banks that will reimburse you for ATM fees. This is an important thing to consider when you are comparing internet banking.

If you use ATM’s a lot, you will not want to pay extra every time you use one. It matters especially with a virtual bank. If you do internet banking with one, it will be the way you usually get cash. If not, you will have to transfer funds from your virtual bank to a traditional bank account and then get the cash from that bank.

Those of you not familiar with the latest on Internet Banking now have at least a basic understanding. But there’s more to come.

Deposits are done differently at virtual banks. When you are doing strictly internet banking, there is no one to cash checks for you. You can have steady income amounts automatically deposited into your internet banking account.

However, someone will eventually buy something from you, or you will get a rebate check. At that point you will need to make a manual deposit. Some virtual banks now have set up deals where you can make deposits to internet banking accounts through certain ATM’s. Some will let you turn in deposits of checks at Mail Boxes Etc. Yet, it is still somewhat of a problem.

Do not assume that a virtual bank does not have proper insurance. Most virtual banks in the US do. To be certain, you can go to the FDIC’s website and look up the name of your virtual bank you are considering. Most likely, you will find it there. Then, you can find out information about the bank’s insurance with the FDIC. If you do not find it on the list, report it to the FDIC as an internet banking company without insurance.

Of course, there are security risks with virtual banking. However, most of them can be taken care of by you guarding your private banking information. Virtual banks have everything to lose if their security is breached, so they go the extra mile to assure that your internet banking is safe.

It is an age when most banking relies on computers, whether for internet banking or for transactions within a traditional bank. You cannot get away from the use of the internet being used in your banking. Internet banking by means of virtual banks just takes it one step further.

Should You Be Fearful of a Relocation

Sunday, March 29th, 2009

The following article lists some simple, informative tips that will help you have a better experience with Relocation.

Have you ever wanted to start over? What about trying something new for a change? These are two of the reasons why a relocation isn’t just a bad idea because you leave the past behind with the hopes of a brighter future.

Such relocations don’t have to be very far. In some cases, you are moving to a better neighbourhood in the same city or state. But if this is required by your job which would mean a later transfer or even a promotion, you could be deployed somewhere else in the country or even abroad.

If after weighing all the pros and cons it looks like the move would be good, you shouldn’t pass on the opportunity and face whatever happens head on.

To do this, you have to rent a truck and then pack all your stuff and drive to your new home. If you have a lot of items, you can also hire a moving company to help you out.

These rental and moving companies can be found in the phone book or online. Instead of looking for them like looking for the light switch in the dark, why don’t you ask friends and family if they can recommend someone to help you out.

If your employer has done this with other employees, they already have a company they can call on. They will just give you the budget which better known as a relocation package.

The best time to learn about Relocation is before you’re in the thick of things. Wise readers will keep reading to earn some valuable Relocation experience while it’s still free.

To learn more about that, you should probably ask your human resources department what this included. This may include moving all your furniture including your car. If the trip is going to take days, you may even fly to your new home or be given temporary housing.

Whether someone else is going to pay for your move, you have to get quotes first and then compare what each one is offering. The cheapest one is not always the best one to get which is why you should do a background check, find out if they are licensed or insured and what do their previous customers think about their performance.

Once you have this information, it will be easy for you to decide whether to rent a truck or hire a moving company. The advantage of using a moving company even though it may cost more than renting a truck is that they will pack all your stuff for you, load this into the truck and unload it at the next destination.

There are even some companies who will unpack and then set it wherever you want it to be placed so you don’t have to do anything when you get to your new home.

So should you be fearful of a relocation? The answer is no even if there will be some challenges along the way that you will encounter. Just remember that there are people who are willing to help and this too shall pass.

What you should you be looking forward to is what happens after the relocation. This means adjusting to the new neighbourhood, new friends and the new working environment that everyone will have to face for as long as you stay in this place.

Just think of the relocation as new chapter in your life. In certain industries and occupations, this is pretty common. You will be able to get through it once you have a plan, figure out what are your logistical needs and then carry it out.

Take time to consider the points presented above. What you learn may help you overcome your hesitation to take action.

The Tanzanian Take on Jewelry

Sunday, March 29th, 2009

Up until now, it has been countries in the western part of the world who have determined how its citizens should wear its jewelry. Now another voice is being heard. From the wild plains of Africa a new rhythm is echoing throughout the land. The wild tribal jewelry worn by these plainspeople is becoming increasingly popular across the globe.

Apart from its flamboyant style, there is something else that is helping to put the jewelry of South Africa on the map-tanzanite. Tanzanite is a precious gem that can only be recovered from the mines of Tanzania, and its unique nature has made it a growing fad throughout the jewelry industry. Diamonds, with their cold cores and icy perfection, have been the jewel of choice throughout history. They have also been the most coveted, hence the phrase, “Diamonds are a girl’s best friend.” Many of the most famous jewel thefts throughout history have involved diamonds. Remember the theft of the jewels from the world’s largest diamond cutter in Antwerp, Belgium, in 2003 that was reputed to be the biggest jewel heist in history?

I trust that what you’ve read so far has been informative. The following section should go a long way toward clearing up any uncertainty that may remain.

No longer is this the case. With the advent of a new society that prefers its people free spirited as opposed to cloistered and meek has come a preference for a new type of jewel, one that has the heat of its people down within its core. This need has been realized through the use of Tanzanite. With its brilliant, deep blue flecked with purple color Tanzanite seems to spring to life as the wearer stares down into it, drawing the soul as well as the eye.

Tanzanite has become a particular favorite for use by those who work in silver. In its purest form Tanzanite actually possesses a yellowish-brown hue rather than the brilliant blue it is revered for. While this color can be baked out by the use of an extremely hot oven, occasionally hints of the hue still remain. These hints are only accented by setting the gem in gold. Silver, on the other hand, draws forth from the stone its brilliant blue due to the contrast. Many silversmiths favor it for use in silver pendants, bracelets, earrings and rings, where its mysterious beauty will only serve to accentuate the beauty of its wearer.

For those who believe in such things Tanzanite is also believed to be the bearer of certain strong, metaphysical properties. It is used as a calming stone for those whose life is in chaos, a characteristic that is believed to be strengthened when it is set in silver, as silver is believed to be able to draw forth the energies of a stone. It is also worn as a protective charm, keeping its bearer safe; a characteristic that was particularly important to the warring tribes of Africa, and its various powers are believed to be equally important to those who live in today’s fast-paced world.

I hope that reading the above information was both enjoyable and educational for you. Your learning process should be ongoing–the more you understand about any subject, the more you will be able to share with others.
